Some two years later, BMW extended its model range with the introduction of a new 635CSI variant featuring a 218-PS 3.5L SOHC engine. Car's on-road performances were pretty impressive too, with a 7.4-second score at the 0-60 mph sprint and a top speed of 138 mph. This car was used as a base model for the later-developed high-performance M6 (or M 635CSI), featuring a new 286-PS DOHC 24-valve 3.5L unit, revised suspension and improved braking.
